We have a new colleague, welcome Dr. Elliot Van Maldegem!

We are very pleased to welcome Dr. Elliot Van Maldegem (VUB) to the LEAP team.

Elliot specializes in palaeodemography and statistical modelling. Within LEAP, he will further develop the palaeodemographic component and integrate our palaeoclimate, palaeoenvironmental, palaeomobility and palaeodemographic datasets through advanced quantitative modelling.

His work contributes directly to the evaluation of synchronicity between environmental stressors and societal responses, the assessment of potential causal and lead–lag relationships, the handling of unequal sampling intervals, and the testing of signal significance. In doing so, it strengthens the project’s integrated analytical framework and advances our understanding of how various abrupt climate changes affected past populations and their environment in the Meuse basin.
