PhD Hannah Leonard and supervisor Christophe Snoeck for the VUB have recently visited the Musée du Malgré-Tout to sample two mandibles found in Grotte de la Roche Albéric and Couvin and Olloy-sur-Viroin held in their collections – one adult and one child. Radiocarbon dating and isotope analysis (Oxygen and Strontium) will be used to get a better idea of where these individuals originated and spent their lives, as well as to better understand the unique funerary traditions in the Bronze Age Meuse Basin. These will be used within the LEAP project to see what prehistoric communities were doing during periods of climate change in the Meuse Basin.
