The team of the LEAP project recently participated in a two-day team-building event held in Han-sur-Lesse, located in the scenic Ardenne region of southern Belgium. This event provided an excellent opportunity to share preliminary research results, exchange ideas, and deepen collaborative interpretations within the LEAP project. Highlights included a private guided tour of the renowned Han-sur-Lesse caves led by Sophie Verheyden, who provided insights into the formation of speleothems and their use as proxies in paleoclimate reconstructions. The LEAP team also visited the underwater archaeological excavation led by Christophe Delaere, FNRS Research Fellow at ULB, that yielded thousands of prehistoric and historic artefacts recovered from the River Lesse where it exits the cave.
